About Our Family

We are an active family of five living in Verona, Wisconsin — two working parents and three school-age kids who keep life full and fast-moving. Both parents work demanding jobs outside (and sometimes inside) the home, and the whole family is deeply committed to Taekwondo, which brings us joy but adds real complexity to an already full schedule. In addition to martial arts, the kids often participate in various other activities depending on the season. We are intentional about how we parent, we care deeply about raising capable, independent kids, and we have built systems in our home that we are proud of. Life has simply outpaced our capacity to keep up with it all.

We are a warm and grounded household. We value efficiency, creative thinking, and calm over chaos. We are looking for someone who can step in, learn how we operate, and make our home feel more like the place we want it to be — without us having to ask.

Who You Are

You are a proactive, self-sufficient problem-solver who does not need constant direction. You notice what needs doing and you do it. You are mature, reliable, and career-oriented — this is not a stop-gap for you, it is a role you take seriously. You think strategically and creatively about systems and efficiency, and you love the satisfaction of a home that runs well. You are comfortable around kids, and you understand the difference between helping children build independence and doing things for them. You collaborate well, especially when someone has a system they like and just needs a partner to run with it. Tech-savviness is a genuine plus. You are steady, warm, and someone a busy family can trust.

How Priorities Work in This Role

Because every day in a busy household looks a little different, this role requires someone who can thoughtfully prioritize and adjust based on the needs of the family. The goal is not to complete every possible household task every day, but rather to focus on the areas that create the greatest impact for the family.

The highest priorities in this role are the daily rhythms that keep the household running smoothly:

  • Supporting the children and maintaining a calm, consistent after-school routine
  • Preparing weekday meals and keeping the kitchen organized after cooking
  • Completing daily household resets, tidying, and maintaining functional shared spaces

As time allows, the role will also support ongoing household management needs, including:

  • Organization and maintenance projects
  • Household systems and restocking
  • Vehicle organization and upkeep
  • Pet care support

Additional projects and special requests may arise throughout the year, including:

  • Larger organization projects
  • Seasonal refreshes
  • Laundry and linen support
  • Household inventory and errands
  • Vendor research and coordination

The ideal person will enjoy identifying what needs attention, communicating priorities with the family, and helping create a home that feels organized, prepared, and well-supported.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support

  • Be present in the home Monday through Friday during after-school hours
  • Welcome kids from school and help create a calm and consistent after-school routine at home, including snacks, homework, and practice time for activities and skills the children are developing (piano, Taekwondo, etc.)
  • Encourage and support kids in unpacking backpacks, putting away lunch boxes, and completing their own tasks — guiding independence, not replacing it
  • School pickups as needed, including during inclement weather (home within walking distance of school)
  • Occasional date night support if open to it (not required)
  • Optional: join the family at infrequent weekend Taekwondo tournaments (local and occasional overnight) to help coordinate/supervise while kids and parents compete

Meal Support

  • Plan weekday dinners for the family
  • Create grocery lists and help maintain household food organization
    • Family to handle grocery shopping based on your provided lists
  • Prepare all weeknight dinners (Monday-Friday) with an emphasis on healthy, protein-forward, fiber-rich meals - but still tasty!
  • Focus on nutritious cooking that supports an active, athletic family
  • Kitchen clean-up and maintenance after cooking
  • School lunch or snack prep from leftovers as opportunities arise

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain existing household systems the family has in place; create new systems collaboratively with the principal of the home before implementing
  • Daily resets of high-traffic areas: counters, surfaces, living spaces
  • Research and assist with hiring a reliable monthly house cleaner; coordinate and oversee cleans going forward
  • Seasonal clothing, décor, and bedding swaps
  • Coordinate and prepare donation drop-offs
  • Event, holiday, and guest prep
  • Help unpack and return the home to baseline after family travel
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed

Inventory & Errands

  • Collaborate with family on household supply lists over time (pantry, cleaning supplies, household staples)
  • Returns, gift shopping, mail and package handling
  • Break down delivery boxes

Laundry & Linens

  • Laundry support as needed and as the role evolves (not a current priority)
  • Steaming and care of Taekwondo uniforms before tournaments
  • Linen rotation support as needed

Vehicle Upkeep

  • Schedule family vehicle maintenance
  • Fueling, cleaning, and organizing the family vehicle
  • Track registration and insurance

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Coordinate with housecleaner to ensure periodic deep cleans are completed (fridge, baseboards, etc.)
  • Refresh mudroom, garage entry, and high-use zones as needed
  • Longer-term: help develop an organization system for the garage
  • Ongoing: Regularly identify opportunities to improve household systems, organization, and efficiency. Bring thoughtful recommendations to the family and, once aligned, take ownership of implementation and maintenance.

Vendor & Service Provider Management:

  • Research and identify qualified vendors, service providers, and contractors for household projects and ongoing home maintenance needs.
  • Obtain and compare quotes, proposals, and service options, presenting clear recommendations to the family for review and decision-making.
  • Coordinate vendor communication, scheduling, and follow-up to ensure projects and services are completed efficiently and to the family's standards.
  • Conduct research on household products, equipment, and services, providing organized comparisons and recommendations based on quality, cost, and family preferences.

Pet Care

  • Let the dog in and out as needed while in the home
  • Optional: dog sitting at the family home when the family travels
