Position Part Time Bus Driver Department Transit Aply at httpsclrcocomC2pwM5Hy52 FLSA Part Time Non Exempt; work 1000 hours per year The Bus Driver operates vehicles in the City of Liberal Public Transportation System in a polite and courteous manner The vehicles owned and operated by the City include normal sized vans and buses that seat up to 12 passengers The position will ensure the transport and safety of all passengers utilizing the public transportation system This position will ensure that all state and local transportation rules and regulations are followed relating to the transporting of passengers This position reports to the Transit Supervisor Please submit your complete application on httpswwwcityofliberalorg370Employment Opportunities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Inspects vehicles including gas oil and water level prior to shift departure and after shift returnMake pick ups and deliveries as routed by the dispatcherOperate all vehicles in a safe and careful manner with full regard to traffic and the use of the roadway by othersAnnounces stops to passengersPark vehicles in designated loading and unloading areas for passenger transferEnsure passengers pay correct fees for transportationReport delays accident or disruptive rides to dispatch or managementAdvise riders to be seated and orderly while riding in the vehicleRegulate heating lighting and ventilating systems for passenger comfortStrictly observe all traffic rules and other applicable laws and regulations at all timesKeep vehicles locked when unattendedAdhere to regulation when riders using wheelchairs are boarding or exitingUpdates mileage usage transportation vehicle and other related reports and recordsInspects vehicles to ensure compliance with all safety standardsPromote a safe work environment by attending andor conducting safety related meetingsDemonstrates continuous efforts to improve operations decrease turnaround times streamline work processes and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer serviceOther essential and marginal functions depending upon work location assignment or shift;Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of City of Liberal geographic layoutTransportation of the elderly disabled and others with special needsVehicle service methods and proceduresKnowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including customer needs assessment and the evaluation of customer satisfactionOrganization and time management skillsAbility to Provide exceptional customer service to the general public and passengersPhysically able to safety operate vehicles provided in the City of Liberal Public Transportation System Vans for special need customers and large 12 passenger BusesAbility to follow Federal state and local guidelines regulations and programs related to the transportation systemAssist customers in wheelchairs Customers who physically need help getting in and out of the Bus or VanMust be able to lift up to 40 lbs occasionallyMust be able to push up to 50 lbs frequentlyMust be able to lift 20 lbs regularlyWork cooperatively with City employees clients and the publicObserve or monitor objects data and peoples behavior to determine the compliance with operating and safety standardsREQUIREMENTS This position requires the use of a city vehicles on City business Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely and possess a valid and insurable drivers license and have an acceptable driving record In addition individual is required to pass a pre employment drug screening test This position is also subject to the City of Liberals Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes one or more of the following post accident testing Reasonable suspicion testing and follow up testingIndividual must pass a KDOT physical examEmployee will be subject to unannounced alcohol and drug testing as a condition of continued employment Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage EXPERIENCE High School Diploma Knowledge of state and local traffic regulations Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
