About Our Family

We're a busy, grounded Bay Area family of four with two energetic boys and a beloved senior dog. Both parents work full-time in demanding fields and are deeply committed to their careers, which means the days move fast and the mental load is real. We're Midwest at heart — casual, direct, down-to-earth — and we genuinely care about our home feeling warm and functional, not just managed.

We have bi-weekly house cleaners in place and outsource laundry, so the deep cleaning is covered. What we're missing is the connective tissue — someone who can keep the afternoon hours running smoothly, make sure our family eats a real dinner, and help us actually sit down together as a family at the end of the day. That's the goal. More dinners together. Less chaos between 1:00 and 6:00 PM.

Our boys attend two different schools, so the afternoon rhythm looks a little different for each of them. One will need to be picked up from school in the early afternoon, the other from the train station late afternoon. Both are in close distance to our home. They're both self-sufficient and don't need heavy supervision — what they do need is someone kind and engaged who can help them get homework or projects started before we get home, or get them where they need to be for activities. We're looking for someone who can be a steady, warm presence in those afternoon hours and help the transition from school to home feel easy and supported.

No family lives nearby, and our current support hasn't been consistent. We're ready for someone who shows up, knows the rhythm, and takes ownership.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are someone who brings reliability, warmth, and genuine energy to an active household with two boys. You are self-directed and confident working independently without needing to be micromanaged, while also being receptive to feedback and comfortable with direct, low-filter communication. You know how to read a room, adapt when schedules shift, and bring calm structure to busy afternoons without being rigid or overly strict.

You genuinely enjoy being around kids and can hold your own with the energy, humor, and occasional chaos that comes with two boys. You find satisfaction in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes and are the kind of person who notices what needs to happen next and simply takes care of it — whether that means prepping tomorrow's lunches, getting a child to practice on time, helping get homework or a project started, or making sure dinner is ready at the end of a busy day. Consistency and follow-through are essential to you, and you take pride in being someone the family can truly count on.

You are excited by menu planning and meal execution, and you enjoy helping a family eat well without making mealtimes feel complicated. You understand that there are two very tough critics in this household who will need to sign off on the menu — and we are not talking about the parents! You are creative and flexible enough to find nourishing meals that work for the whole family while keeping the kids' preferences and personalities in mind.

You naturally look for opportunities to create systems, improve how things work, and make everyday life a little easier. You enjoy bringing organization and structure to a home while still helping it feel warm, lived-in, and like a home — not a perfectly managed space. You take initiative, follow through on the details, and bring a steady, positive presence to the household. If you thrive in an environment where you can see what needs to be done, take ownership, and become a trusted part of the family's rhythm, you will likely be a great fit.
