About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Foster City, CA
Details:
- In-Person Tutoring in Foster City, CA
- Schedule: 20 hours a month, 1x a week for 1hr 15mins
- Pay rate ranges from $25-$35 per hour
Ideal Candidate:
- Experience supporting autistic adolescents or adults in academic and functional skill development
- Strong understanding of functional academics, reading comprehension, and real-world math instruction
- Experience teaching students with receptive language strengths and expressive communication challenges
- Patient, calm, and able to provide structured, individualized instruction
- Familiar with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies, mindfulness, meditation, or yoga practices
- Able to support emotional regulation and build student confidence in a positive learning environment
- Skilled at breaking down complex concepts into manageable, functional lessons
- Creative and engaging, with the ability to incorporate student interests into instruction
- Comfortable creating lesson plans and adapting instruction based on ongoing assessment
- Strong communication and rapport-building skills with students and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction in functional academic skills across English Language Arts and Mathematics
- Strengthen reading comprehension and comprehension across multiple content areas using practical, real-world materials
- Teach functional math concepts and problem-solving strategies that promote independence and everyday application
- Support communication development through structured discussion, guided questioning, and functional language activities
- Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), mindfulness, meditation, and yoga practices to support emotional regulation and engagement
- Create individualized lessons that balance academic instruction with functional life skills
- Conduct an initial assessment to determine current academic levels and guide instructional planning
- Adapt instruction based on student progress, interests, and learning style
- Incorporate motivating activities such as music, movement, food-related topics, swimming, and games like Just Dance to encourage participation
- Foster a supportive, structured environment that promotes confidence, independence, and meaningful learning experiences
