About Our Family

We are a calm, structured, and intentional family based in Lake Elmo, Minnesota. Both parents work in demanding but primarily business-hour roles, and prefer to protect evenings as family time. Our home is full of life with three children (ages 6, 3, and 1) and a fourth baby on the way. While there is always activity, we thrive in a space that feels organized, tidy, and intentionally maintained, where everything has a place and daily life feels grounded and predictable. We also have a sweet, low-maintenance senior Labrador who is happiest simply being near her people.

We are looking for someone who can truly own the flow of the household during the day, someone who naturally steps into a home, understands what needs to happen, and brings order, momentum, and care without needing constant direction. This is a role for someone who is proactive, highly organized, and intuitive, and who takes pride in maintaining strong systems, consistent upkeep, and thoughtful attention to detail.

We want to come home to a space that already feels reset, with meals underway or handled, surfaces clear, laundry moving, and the mental load of unfinished tasks already lifted, so we can be fully present with our children and enjoy unhurried time together in the evenings.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

  • A proactive self-starter who sees what needs to be done and acts without needing direction
  • Exceptionally organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through
  • Calm, efficient, and able to manage multiple moving parts without losing track
  • A strong communicator who is comfortable asking clarifying questions when needed
  • Intuitive in a home environment—you read the room, the rhythm, and the priorities
  • Comfortable working independently in a home where parents may be present (especially WFH days)
  • Able to balance professionalism with warmth and discretion
  • Naturally systems-minded—you don’t just complete tasks, you improve how things run
  • Efficient and execution-focused; you move smoothly from task to task (laundry, kitchen, resets, prep)
  • Comfortable around dogs and young children
  • Comfortable in a high-standards home where attention to detail matters

Key Responsibilities

Meal Support & Kitchen Ownership

  • Plan and prepare 2–3 fresh, home-cooked full dinners per week
  • Ensure dinners are timed so they are ready when the family arrives home or can be easily reheated
  • Use crockpots, warming drawers, and prep timing strategically for early dinner readiness
  • Proactively plan complementary side dishes (vegetables, salads, starches) to complete meals
  • Prepare grab-and-go breakfasts/school lunches and family lunch options throughout the week
  • Set the dinner table on prep days to support seamless evening flow
  • Kitchen cleanup after all meal prep and daily use
  • Maintain pantry, fridge, and freezer inventory; flag low or expiring items proactively
  • Maintain and update household grocery/supply list

Laundry, Linens & Wardrobe Management

  • Manage full family laundry: wash, fold, organize, and put away
  • Consistently rotate linens (sheets and towels)
  • Light ironing and steaming (minimal weekly needs, higher in winter)
  • Manage system for children's clothing: transition/store seasonal clothing and ongoing organization of outgrown items for donation of passing to younger siblings
  • Maintain an organized, functional laundry system that stays ahead of accumulation
  • Support wardrobe optimization: flag unworn items (6+ months) for donation or refresh

Household Organization & Daily Reset

  • Daily reset of kitchen and shared living spaces (dishes, surfaces, light tidying)
  • Light vacuuming and upkeep of high-traffic areas
  • Maintain household organization systems and improve where needed
  • Prep home ahead of bi-weekly cleaning service visits
  • Seasonal decor transitions (holidays, bedding, household resets)
  • Pool-season support: restock towels, sunscreen, snacks; inflate floaties
  • Proactively handle small household tasks: replacing batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, etc
  • Care for indoor plants

Deep Cleaning & Household Projects

  • Periodic deep cleaning of fridge, freezer, oven, microwave, baseboards, etc
  • Refresh humidifiers, air purifiers, and similar household systems
  • Organizational projects: closets, toys, gear, storage systems
  • Ongoing home efficiency improvements (systems thinking encouraged)

Inventory, Errands & Household Management

  • Maintain pantry, household supply, and consumable inventory awareness
  • Maintain and update a shared household supply and needs list, ensuring it stays current, accurate, and reflects real-time household usage
  • Manage Amazon, Target, and Sam’s Club ordering lists (family places orders)
  • Mail handling, package intake, and box breakdown
  • Gift shopping and gift wrapping (high volume during birthday seasons)
  • Return coordination and household errand support as needed
