The Event Services Worker plays a key role in supporting the Tarleton State University Event Center by delivering exceptional front-line customer service and ensuring smooth event operations. Core responsibilities include ushering at events, assisting with ticket sales and entry, monitoring building security, and maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position is essential to creating a positive and seamless experience for guests, students, and community members.

Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills are critical to success in this role.

Evening and weekend availability is required, with work schedules determined by the needs of scheduled events. This is a temporary, part-time position limited to a maximum of 19 hours per week, based on the operational needs of the Event Center.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide service as an usher for campus wide events such as concerts, athletic events, etc.

  • Event ticket sales support as needed

  • Scanning tickets at University events

  • Perform building operation tasks including locking and unlocking main doors, various offices, etc.

  • Provide front line customer service including answering phones, transferring calls, giving directions, and assisting patrons and general public

  • Monitor building security as needed

  • Reporting building maintenance, cleaning, and safety concerns

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace

  • Work with other building staff team members to solve problems, provide updated information, and assist with scheduling as needed

  • Coordinate evacuation procedures in the case of an emergency

  • Assist with filling shifts and special event needs

  • Provide other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Customer service experience

  • Must be available to work nights and weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Common business software applications such as Microsoft Office

  • Familiar with audio and visual and presentation equipment

  • Experience serving as a student leader in a professional environment

Skills/Abilities:

  • Problem solving

  • Lift, carry and/or otherwise move items weighing up to approximately 20 pounds on occasion

  • Ability to move about and between venues for extended periods of time up to a full shift of work

  • Bend and stoop

Compensation: 

The target base hourly compensation is $18.03 and may be negotiable based on funding availability and candidate experience/skillset in relation to the minimum requirements of this position.
