About Our Family

We are a busy, warm, and active family with five children and a sixth on the way. Our home is full of energy, laughter, and a whole lot of moving parts. The older kids are involved in swim, sports, and after-school activities, while the younger ones keep the daytime hours equally full. Our family dog rounds out the household and is friendly, sweet, and great with kids.

One parent is home full-time managing the household, children's schedules, therapies, school pickups, and everything in between. The other leads a company and works in the office most of the week, traveling occasionally. While we have a wonderful part-time nanny and a cleaning team already in place, we are growing and the daily load has grown with us. We are looking for someone who can step in and help bring order, consistency, and calm to what can sometimes feel like a beautifully chaotic household.

Our goal with this hire is simple: we want to spend more time being present with our kids, not buried in the task list. We are looking for someone who gets that, someone who takes pride in this kind of work, loves being around kids, and sees supporting a family as something meaningful.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are someone who walks into a home and immediately sees what needs to happen. You don't need a to-do list spelled out for you every day. You're the kind of person who notices the laundry came back and puts it away before being asked, who checks the fridge on a Thursday and quietly handles what needs to go, who knows that a mudroom reset is not just tidying but setting the tone for the whole evening. You are warm and genuinely good with kids of all ages, including babies and toddlers, and you bring a calm, upbeat, and professional energy to the home. You read the room with ease: you know when to chat and when to keep your head down and get things done. You are efficient, time-aware, and purposeful. You don't leave things half-finished or half-organized. You take pride in the small things and show up, reliably and on time, every single time.

You are someone who brings a calm, capable presence into a home and naturally helps things run more smoothly. You take pride in being the person a family can rely on: someone who notices the little things, thinks ahead, and balances warmth and connection with the ability to quietly get things done.

The ideal candidate is:

  • Proactive and solutions-oriented. You naturally notice what needs attention and take initiative to solve problems before they become bigger ones. You don't wait for a checklist or constant direction; you see the small details that make a home feel organized, cared for, and functional.
  • Efficient and thoughtful with your time. You understand how long tasks take, know how to prioritize, and are intentional about how you move through your day. You can layer responsibilities thoughtfully and leave things feeling complete rather than half-finished.
  • Warm, engaging, and genuinely great with children. You enjoy building relationships with kids and bring a positive, steady energy to the home. You are thoughtful about how you engage children, using activities, toys, and routines intentionally.
  • Emotionally aware and adaptable. You have strong situational awareness and can read the rhythm of the household.
  • Reliable and trustworthy. You understand that consistency matters in a household role. You are punctual, dependable, and someone a family can feel confident welcoming into their home long-term.
  • Proud of the work you do. You take ownership of your responsibilities and find satisfaction in creating order, supporting a family, and handling the small details that make everyday life easier.

Key Responsibilities

Laundry & Linen Care

  • Sort and stain-treat clothing before sending out to laundry service 1-2 times per week
  • Receive laundered items and put away in an organized system
  • Manage linen rotation: wash, organize, and maintain regular cadence for towels and bedding, especially children's beds
  • Wash, fold, and organize occasional small in-home loads (sleep sacks, pajamas, and similar items)
  • Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Create and maintain household organizational systems that can evolve as family needs change
  • Daily resets and light tidying: dishes, surfaces, high-traffic vacuuming, trash, toy pickup
  • Own the mudroom: keep it sorted, cleaned, vacuumed with wet vac, and mini fridge restocked
  • Manage garage space: weekly reset, ensure children's bikes and gear are properly stored
  • Prep home for weekly cleaning team visits
  • Complete a dedicated organizational project each week (closets, toy storage, activity gear, etc.)
  • Manage seasonal clothing swaps and rotations, particularly for the boys (all close in size, clothing is passed down regularly)
  • Coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Proactively change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed
  • Be on-site point of contact for vendors and service providers

Inventory & Errands

  • Manage household supply lists in collaboration with the family; place orders (Costco, Heinen’s, and Target) or add to shared list proactively before essential items run low
  • Unpack orders and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies throughout the home
  • Handle miscellaneous errands: returns, exchanges, occasional dry cleaning, and gift shopping as needed
  • Break down boxes for recycling
  • Monitor and bring in packages when family is away

Meal Support

  • Pack school lunches and snacks for the following day
  • Help with occasional ingredient prep for dinners or monitor items in the oven as requested
  • Process produce upon arrival (wash, cut, and store) for easy snacking
  • Deep clean refrigerator weekly, being mindful to clear out expired or unused food
  • Be mindful of dietary preferences: one parent is vegetarian, the rest of the family is not
  • Maintain tidy and organized kitchen space

Family Support

  • Provide light afternoon supervision (e.g. take a child for a walk during homework time as needed or stay with napping children while parent runs errands)
  • Serve as a flexible, second set of hands as the family welcomes a new baby in the fall
  • Available for occasional date night childcare based on candidate availability
  • Prep backpacks, clothing, and snacks for school and activities
  • Provide backup drop-off or pickup support on a rare basis

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Identify other deep cleaning needs (oven, baseboards) and flag for cleaning team or handle during downtime
  • Manage outdoor seasonal transitions: bring out and clean kids' toys and gear at the start of each season, put away and store at the end

Pet Care

  • Add scoop of food a few times per week (dog free-feeds) and refresh water daily
  • Let dog in and out of fenced yard as needed
  • Monitor and reorder pet food and supplies when running low

Administrative Support

  • Maintain awareness of the household calendar via the Skylight display; proactively track upcoming activities, appointments, and needs and plan accordingly
  • Track receipts and expenses related to on-the-job purchases
