Job Description
The Northville District Library is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and customer service-minded candidate to join our Technical Services Department.
Position Overview:
- Hours: Part-time (20 hours per week).
- Classification: Union position.
- Compensation: $16.94 – $20.89 per hour (based on experience).

Essential Duties:
Cataloging & Database Management (Core Tech Duties)
- Performs copy cataloging for print and non-print library materials using MARC format, Library of Congress subject headings, Dewey Decimal classification system and other industry standards.
- Add items records to bibliographic holdings in the Library’s online Koha catalog.
- Performs data entry and assists with database maintenance.
Materials Processing & Collection Support
- Prepares Gift Books for collection circulation.
- Creates book club kits.
- Assists with the physical processing of library materials as needed.
Administrative & Departmental Support
- Monitors departmental supplies.
- Works on special departmental projects.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Education & Core Competencies
- High school diploma
- Demonstrate attention to detail.
- Knowledge and proficiency in working with MS Office.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated capacity for empathy, active listening, and maintaining positive, supportive relationships within a diverse workplace and community.

Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time and the ability to bend, reach, stoop, or crouch.
- Ability to push carts of library books and other materials weighing up to thirty pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous copy cataloging and library work experience.
- Some college coursework.
- Current Library Science students are highly encouraged to apply.
