Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY


 


The Upper St. Clair Community & Recreation Center provides our members and guests with a comprehensive range of recreation services including: fitness programs, swim programs (indoor and outdoor), summer camps, youth programs, older adult programs, and more.




The Part-Time Fitness Floor Attendant is responsible for assisting members and guests with general fitness inquiries, providing supervision and guidance with basic exercise principles and maintaining the cleanliness of the equipment and general fitness areas at the Community & Recreation Center. 


 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities




Provide customer service through; interacting with members, educating members on how to use the equipment and answering questions.



Ensure the fitness area remains clean and organized; disinfect and clean all equipment.



Actively supervise the fitness floor (upper and lower levels), track and gym area.



Maintain a clean and tidy workspace.



Act in a professional manner by abiding the dress code and upholding USC C&RC policies when in conflict with patrons and staff.



Proper radio communication and response time with housekeeping, maintenance staff and emergency situations.



Perform opening/closing procedures of the fitness floors.



Attend mandatory meetings.



Play an active role in promoting and participating in facility programs and events.


QUALIFICATIONS




Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Must be able to work a minimum of 8-12 hours per week.



Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays (i.e. July 4th, Labor Day, Christmas Eve, etc.)



Demonstrate excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.



General understanding of fitness concepts



General knowledge of various fitness equipment.



Demonstrate the ability to make sound decisions and troubleshoot.



Knowledgeable of basic fitness information.



Problem solving skills, as the employee must be able to resolve discrepancies and answer questions from members and employees tactfully and courteously.



Ability to perform well in a family-oriented service-environment in a recreation setting.


 


Education and Experience


 Must be 16 years or older. 



 Current First Aid, CPR and AED certification is preferred.


 EQUIPMENT USED


 Part-Time Fitness Floor Attendants must be familiar with and be able to demonstrate all fitness equipment located in the Fitness   Department including but not limited to treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent and standard exercise bikes, selectorized strength training   machines and general free weights.

 The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and   the ability to adjust focus.
