Position Summary
Big Ideas Educational Services is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Website Manager to oversee the maintenance, updates, functionality, and overall look and feel of our organizational website. This is an as-needed position, ideal for someone who is well-versed in WordPress, responsive design, and nonprofit/education-focused branding.
The Website Manager will ensure that our website remains up-to-date, visually engaging, user-friendly, and aligned with our mission to provide high-quality out-of-school programming.

We’re looking for someone who becomes our long-term website partner. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and enjoys helping organizations keep their digital presence current and professional.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular website updates, including text, images, calendars, and program information.
- Maintain the overall look, layout, and navigation of the Big Ideas website.
- Ensure responsive design and mobile optimization across all pages.
- Troubleshoot and resolve website performance issues, errors, or broken links.
- Manage plugins, widgets, and integrations to ensure full functionality and security.
- Publish and format new content as needed (blogs, events, program initiatives).
- Support branding updates, including photos, graphics, and page layouts that reflect current organizational priorities.
- Monitor website performance, uptime, and loading issues.
- Conduct periodic content reviews to ensure accuracy and relevance.
- Recommend improvements that enhance user experience and visual appeal.
- Maintain backups and assist with basic security measures.
- Collaborate with leadership on website refresh projects or special updates.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Strong proficiency in WordPress website management.
- Experience with WordPress plugins, updates, and theme customization.
- Basic understanding of website security and maintenance best practices.
- Ability to edit photos, adjust layouts, and format content professionally.
- Strong attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to work independently and respond promptly to update requests.
- Basic HTML/CSS (preferred but not required)
- Website troubleshooting
- Google Analytics
- SEO fundamentals
- Graphic design experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Preferred:
- Experience with nonprofit or educational program websites.
- Familiarity with SEO basics and analytics dashboards (Google Analytics, etc.).
- Graphic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar).
- Understanding of responsive design principles.
- Schedule
- Approximately 5–10 hours per month
- Hours vary based on organizational needs
- Flexible schedule
- Must respond to update requests within 24–48 business hours
Position Type
This is an as-needed / part-time role. Hours will vary based on project volume and updates required. Turnaround time for urgent updates is expected within 24–48 hours unless otherwise communicated.
