About Our Family

Based in Sacramento, we're an active, warm, and social family with three young children (ages 2, 4, and 5) and two beloved, very friendly dogs (one small and one large), who make this house feel lively and bright. Life here moves fast. Between one parent’s work and travel schedule, school drop-offs, weekend soccer games, swim practices, and a steady stream of friends and extended family coming through, there's always something going on. We love entertaining and thrive on connection, but we also deeply value having a peaceful, organized home to recharge in and come back to at the end of the day. Right now, the gap between the two is where we’re seeking support.

While we have weekly cleaning support, our bustling schedules and active young children mean our household often becomes disorganized quickly: the pantry gets cluttered, laundry piles up, and cooking feels less enjoyable without the right prep and cleanup support. We're looking for a highly proactive, communicative, and organized house manager who can create and maintain meaningful systems so that our home feels like a calm refuge and we can focus on spending more quality time together as partners and as a family.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are highly proactive and organized: you walk into a home, immediately see what needs to be done and what systems could be created and streamlined, and take action with minimal oversight. You're warm, calm, genuine, and great with young children, but you also know how to redirect little ones when there's work to be done. You have high emotional intelligence and can easily read the room—you can hold a friendly conversation, and you're comfortable in a highly social, lively, and full house, but you’re also equally comfortable in quiet moments and know when it’s time to support the family’s ability to recharge peacefully.

Our ideal fit is someone who can support organizational projects, laundry, meal planning/prep, pet care, light child care, and implementing systems that keep the home running smoothly. You’re self-managed, anticipate needs before being asked, have excellent time management skills, and take genuine ownership of your responsibilities. You're proactive, organized, and systems-minded, the kind of person who doesn't just tidy up but creates meaningful household systems that stick. You communicate openly, ask thoughtful questions when you're unsure, and have excellent follow-through. You maintain professional boundaries and can balance competing priorities seamlessly.

You genuinely love working with young children, families, and dogs of all sizes, including older ones who require a little extra daily care; you can step in during busy times and schedule/travel shifts, and feel comfortable in a private family home environment that values spending quality time together, frequent entertaining/cooking, and fostering a relaxed, calm environment when it’s time to reset.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Create and maintain household organization systems throughout the home, including pantry, fridge, garage, and kids' spaces
  • Daily tidying and reset: dishes, wiping surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas
  • Prep home before cleaners arrive
  • Seasonal swaps for kids' clothing, bedding, and holiday décor, including putting items away after the season ends
  • Event and holiday support for frequent family gatherings, barbecues, holiday parties, and kids' birthday celebrations
  • Help with packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Replace and restock light bulbs, batteries, and smoke detectors
  • Coordinate and drop off donation bags

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Occasional deep cleans of fridge, oven, and baseboards
  • Refresh and reorganize garage, mudroom, and entryway as needed
  • Tackle organizational projects in the toy room, including clearing out broken items
  • Reset the backyard regularly, clearing kids' outdoor toys, chalk, and gear, and bringing in household items that have made their way outdoors

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; organize pantry so the family can clearly see what's on hand
  • Manage running supply lists, including dog food and household essentials
  • Handle household orders and subscriptions (Amazon, Costco, Target)
  • In-person errands: returns, dry cleaning drop-off and pickup, gift shopping
  • Establish and maintain a system for incoming mail and packages
  • Break down and dispose of cardboard boxes

Meal Support

  • Batch meal prep 2-3 times per week: dinners, healthy snacks, and grab-and-go breakfast items
  • Meal planning support, especially during weeks when one parent is traveling (crock pot meals, pasta salads, simple kid-friendly staples)
  • Prep work so meals are ready or nearly ready when the family gets home: chopping vegetables, getting grains started, setting up slow cooker or sous vide in advance
  • Prep school lunches once the family's preferences are established
  • Grocery shopping
  • Kitchen cleanup after meal prep

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, fold, and organize all family laundry
  • Iron and steam garments between wears
  • Rotate and refresh towels and bed linens
  • Keep the laundry area tidy and well stocked

Pet Care

  • Walk both dogs regularly
  • Ensure dogs have food and water readily available
  • Manage daily care for the older dog, including ensuring he's wearing his diaper when inside and washing and drying diapers weekly
  • Schedule vet and grooming appointments
  • Track medications and preventative care schedules
  • Maintain pet supplies, noticing when items like diapers or food are running low
  • Occasionally house-sit and care for the dogs when the family travels

Family Support

  • Light supervision and backup childcare as needed, including staying with the youngest during nap time
  • Prep backpacks, kids' clothing, and school snacks
  • Label kids' clothing and clear out items they've outgrown
  • Kid-related errands as needed

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Oversee and ensure timely payment to the gardeners and other regular vendors
  • Research and coordinate repairs, contractor quotes, and seasonal property maintenance (pressure washing, roof leaf blowing, etc.)
  • Coordinate hanging of printed family photos and other small projects
  • Manage outdoor spaces by keeping the backyard tidy and free of kids' toys and gear
